“Oh come on now Twilight you’ve been up half the night working on that stupid thing, just give it a rest and go to sleep already. I don’t think I can last another day of trying to force myself to stay awake” Spike gave an exaggerated yawn to push the point as he pulled the blanket over his eyes to seem even less impressed.
Twilight let out a short sigh as she forced herself to ignore the melodramatic dragon, horn emitting a faint glow, as the pen sitting idly on her hoof twitched to life, scribbling a final few words on the final page of the paperwork pile infront of her “Happy now? Look Spike this is a big deal for me. I’ve been getting worked up for far to long… you know that more than any pony, Sorry anyone. but if I don’t tell the princess just how I feel about her before the court starts. Well she might ignore me. and you remember how that went last time?”
The dragon emitted a small snore, apparently unable to stay awake after all, Twilight thought to herself [Half the night? Hardly. It’s only ten minutes later than I usually work anyway…]. It didn’t take Twilight long to follow suit, as she fell into a deep sleep, dreams of the powerful alicorn haunted her rest, the words she longed to say looped over and over again. What if I was banished? …But worst of all what if she agrees. Could the world really handle such a change
The sun had risen, and despite having to haul Spike onto the carriage by his tail, she was on prompt timing, all these years of pent up feelings ready to be unloaded in a single moment. Twilight could barely contain her excitement as heart beat raced upwards.
“Uh are you okay?” the dragon glanced up a bewildered look on his face, Twilight’s eyes hadn’t shifted away from the essay she worked so actively on the last few nights.
Twilight nodded but eyes were still drawn to the paperwork. “Fine. Better than ever… Listen Spike if this doesn’t go well I want you to know you really were the best assistant I could’ve asked for.”
Spikes eyes flickered with glee “Does that mean I get a raise if you return!” Twilight quickly responded with a snappy “No.”
Twilight had finally made it to Celestia’s throne, Spike held back at a distance by two armoured guards looking as stoic as ever. The alicorn goddess spoke up “Ah yes if it isn’t my faithful student Twilight Sparkle, your messages indicated that a meeting was… well urgent. may I ask what you wish of me.”
Twilight took a couple of steps forward, it was now or never “Only you’ll want to hear this princess… I assure you.” she leaned closer. Any other pony would’ve been chased off several miles by the nearby guards, as she whispered something into Celestia’s ear.
“WHAT!” the alicorn glanced at Twilight as if the purple talking unicorn was completely bonkers. A small smile had crept up on Twilights face as she pulled out the paperwork.
“Oh no Princess I’m completely sincere, In fact here is several thousand words on the subject… Celestia… I think you should really consider my option.”
The grin had faded from Celestia face, she grimly nodded at Twilight “I had feared this for a while… But hearing it coming from the horse’s own mouth really digs in the reality of the situation.”
Twilight stood her ground “So you’ll consider it Princess. I really think you should. its been several thousand years, I have to confess taking a holiday could really help you!, maybe even Luna, sorry Princess Luna might even get a lighter coat!”
Spike perked up “Make it an extended holiday! Ohh you could even get those little coconut things.”
Celestia gave another small sigh “Your right… I think its time to really consider a break from the whole sun raising business. but I’d need a suitable replacement for my duties to even consider such a thing! Is there any pony in Equestria that could handle such a tremedous task.”
The purple unicorn had a small sly grin on her face “Princess… just leave everything to me.”
It had been several days since the princesses’ departure to a beach just off the coast of Trottingham. Luna got dragged along despite her adamant refusal… the only pony… well dragon not happy with the arrangement was Spike. “Twilight I seriously think this was your dumbest idea yet… And you wonder why we worry about you.”
Twilight glared at the butler uniform wearing dragon, as she lifted up a silver tray to the new princess of ponykind, the finest orange juice balanced ontop of it. “Okay no more lying about taking the medication. I’ve got it. Stop rubbing it in…. Princess Scootaloo can I get you anything else?”
The orange foal, with a sun mark currently etched onto her hind quarters in black ink was still smiling “This. Is. So. Awesome.”
Dear Author,
What?! Princess Scootaloo? Oh dear, I think this Equestria is going to be in trouble.
Nopony deserves a vacation more than Princess Celestia though. I’m sure she doesn’t need one, but she deserves it. She works so hard for everypony.
This was a funny story though! I kept wondering what this Twilight was going to confess. I definitely wasn’t expecting that!
Sincerely,
Twilight Sparkle
