Pinkie Pie grumbled as she turned over onto her other side in bed. Her eyes were shut and she tried as hard as she could to stop thinking and fall asleep. She didn’t usually have trouble falling asleep. She just climbed into her soft bed and drifted off with a smile.
Most nights, however, she wasn’t kept away by the sounds of a creaking bed and a happy couple downstairs.
“Come on!” She whimpered and shook her head. “You’ve already got two babies! Why risk making more!”
It occurred to her that they might be doing a variety of things that wouldn’t result in babies, and images flashed through her mind. She rolled onto her front and buried her face in her pillow, shaking her head and groaning in frustration as she tried to think of something else. Anything else.
“You okay?” Twilight asked her.
“No!” Pinkie grunted in reply. “The Cakes are having sex and it’s loud and I can’t sleep and I’m all frustrated!”
She could feel Twilight’s body press against her back gently, nuzzling one of her ears.
“Frustrated, huh?” Twilight whispered. “I could help you with that, you know.”
Pinkie shivered and nodded eagerly. Then she rolled over onto her back and sighed, staring up at the dark ceiling of her attic bedroom. Thinking about Twilight wasn’t helping her feel any less frustrated and lonely.
The noise continued from downstairs unabated. Mrs. Cake sounded like she was having a really good time.
“You could be having a good time too, you know,” Rainbow Dash said.
Pinkie clenched her eyes shut. She wasn’t going to do this again.
“Yeah, I could! If you were here for real!”
“Hey, you know me. I’m a free agent. You never know when I’ll show up!” Dash sauntered around her bed as Pinkie tried to silence her, to just shut off her mind and go to sleep.
“You just show up when you need me, you mean,” Pinkie retorted. “That’s why you always stop by after you spend the day with Fluttershy.”
“Hey, that’s not true, I-“
“No no no!” Pinkie groaned, shaking her head. “I don’t want to fight!”
She was so desperate to push Dash from her mind that she intentionally focused on the sounds from downstairs. She thought she could hear Mr. Cake saying Mrs. Cake’s name again and again. It didn’t help too much. She was frustrated and lonely and angry all at once. But as angry as she was, if Dash had flown into her bedroom for real in that moment she wouldn’t have turned her down. She wasn’t ever too proud for Dash before and that definitely didn’t change when she needed it this bad.
“Oh you poor dear,” Fluttershy said. “I… I’m sorry. I wish I could help.”
Pinkie whined. Fluttershy’s gentle voice helped her feel calmer and cooled her desires for a moment. That was exactly the problem.
“I’m sorry,” Fluttershy repeated. “I know I’m no Rainbow Dash. I just really really like you. And I want to be with you. And I-“
“No, please…” Pinkie whimpered and pressed her face into her pillow, feeling the cloth get wet under her eyes. “I’m sorry!”
Pinkie’s mind reached for anything, anything at all that she could latch onto and forget this line of thought.
“Ya know what I always say,” Applejack told her. “If ya got a problem, ya gotta take care of it yerself.”
Pinkie lifted her head from the pillow and opened her eyes. She wished she’d thought of Applejack first. That pony always talked sense.
She got up from her bed and went over to her dresser. She pulled out her favorite purple sock and slipped it onto her right foreleg. She sighed and grinned at her hoof. The creaking and moaning from downstairs still hadn’t let up.
“Looks like it’s just you and me tonight. Now let’s get Twilight back in here…”
Hee hee, the power of imagination! This was a cute story and very well-done, RWL. I might point out how you’re kinda treading the edge of SFW here, but that’s kind of your style and from where I stand the story passes anyway, so whatever. Great job!
