Thirty Minute Pony Stories

The best part about being in love was not knowing what the next day held. Every day was something new, a fresh chance to seize the day and find new ways to share the all-encompassing love that had recently consumed Applejack. Love was new to her, at least, this particular kind of love was. She knew all about love for her family, not a day went by when she didn’t think about them. And she considered herself well-versed in love for her friends, sticking with those crazies through thick and thin.

But, this was different. New. It kept her up at night, sometimes with hundreds of fluttering fears that would flicker in and out of consciousness, but were there just long enough to make her worry. But most nights there was just dreaming and hoping. Longing to someday open up with this great, new, mysterious love and share it with somepony.

And she had. Although, she hadn’t expected it to be Rarity when she had first felt it. In all honesty, when she first started having these…feelings, she thought they were directed at Rainbow Dash. Twilight had spouted her some psychological junk about how her brain was in denial of her love for Rarity and pretended it was for Dash, thus convincing her entire being. Applejack didn’t really care about that, she was just glad she had sorted it out in time and was overjoyed when Rarity pounced on her that day in the boutique, pinning her to the ground and kissing her with such ferocity that the farm pony certainly hadn’t expected to come from posh, well-mannered Rarity, who always thought before she acted.

But Applejack wouldn’t have it any other way. She and Rarity were inseparable from then on. Rarity would fan herself under one of AJ’s trees and chat with her while she worked, Applejack would stop by the boutique, toting warm apple pie for lunch. And every day, she saw a side of Rarity she had never seen before. A laughing, wild Rarity who stole her hat and ran away, a Rarity who pretended to have everything under control but who really just wanted somepony to lean on, a Rarity who didn’t wear makeup and just relaxed.

And every day, she wanted to try something new, turn those dreams and fantasies into realities. Every day, all she wanted to do was spend the rest of her days with Rarity. And she truly believed that she just might.

BSB Comments:

Aw. This was really sweet. I loved how Applejack talked about the side of Rarity that she gets to see, and about what she hoped would happen in their future. It was also interesting to see Applejack projecting onto Rainbow Dash, and that might have been fun to explore more deeply, but alas time restraints. Well done!
