The stars are kind diamonds
Twinkling from high above
Far away, untouchable,
And yet familiar and true.
The stars are kind diamonds,
Full of mysterious power,
Hard-won and well-kept—
A power tempered and tamed by
A generous spirit
That conquers self-worship
And a tender kindness
That conquers great rage.

The stars are kind diamonds,
In which live and breathe
Those who once were not
Made of star-stuff.
The stars are kind diamonds,
Ever-watchful guardians in eternity
Just as in prior ages.
The stars are kind diamonds
Who share their sea of
Endless, enveloping black
With the sounds of laughter
That brings the courage
To be honest to their hearts
And to remain true to their purpose.

The stars are kind diamonds
Because while Death
Could not be stopped,
Death could never own them —
So noble were their struggles,
So valiant were their lives,
That the very depths of existence
Cried out for them
And demanded that they
Live on in spirit if not body.

The stars are kind diamonds
Because while Death
Cannot be stopped,
Neither can Love.

Comments by Kyronea:

That was a gorgeous poem…full of romance and intrigue. The Mane Six live on, in legend, in the hearts of others, in the memories they gave to all those ponies whose lives they touched. And, this may be bias on my part, but I saw strong shades of Omniship in this as well, or dual OT3s. Either way, thank you for a beautiful poem, DB.
