Thirty Minute Pony Stories

Where we challenge ourselves to write pony stories in thirty minutes. Prompts are posted daily. All safe for work.

Hello my Princess Luna.

Who’s there?

Ah yes. I suppose I should introduce myself. My name is Nightmare.

Nightmare?

Fear not – it is but a name. In fact I am here to help you, dear Luna.

Where…are you? Show yourself!

My apologies, my Princess, but I cannot. I am naught but a voice, sadly. A voice only you can hear. One that will help you.

Help me? With what?

Why, with your sister of course.

My…sister? What has dearest Celestia done that I would require your help?

She treats you with the greatest of disrespect and you allow it. She is nothing more than a fraud.

You dare…You dare sully my sister’s name so?!

 Only because it is deserved.

 You dare?!

Yes, I dare. You need to know this truth, though it may hurt you: You are being used.

 No.

Yes. She gave you the ‘duty’of controlling the night and made it look like a prize.  And you were naïve enough to fall for it.

But…but that’s not…not true…

Oh isn’t it? How many ponies stay awake to enjoy your light?

I…I…

Face it – you were given the short end of the stick and she sugar-coated it just enough to make it look delicious. In fact, I’ve heard her laughing at your expense.

You lie!

No, my Princess, I do not. I speak only truths to you. Upon your arrival she gave you the night. And the only reason she did was to lighten her load.

nd the only reason she did was to lighten her load.u. Now that you’nouh to make it look tasty. You’re nothing but a figurehead. A placeholder. A nopony.

 Liar!

Face the facts:  She rules the day - the time when almost all ponies are awake to enjoy her light and warmth. They look to the sky and bless her for it

And what do you get? A few pathetic scraps from those few who stay awake. The few who stand beneath your moon to confess their love to another. The few who watch the stars.

 Morsels.

Crumbs.

Nothing more.

…you’re lying…

Am I still? Can you not see the truth in what I say? Can’t you feel it? The lack of respect you’re given compared to sister Celestia? She lost nothing by giving you the night and she knows it. The day is what matters and she hoards it like the greatest of treasures.

Ah. I can see it’s finally beginning to sink in. It’s good that I have arrived to help open your eyes to this travesty. To this insult.

What…what should I do?

Confront her, of course. Tell her you know of her scheme and demand what’s yours.

But…but what if she refuses?

Then you take it. And I will give you the strength to do so. When the time comes, I will be there.

Leave everything to me.

This was an interesting way to go about the prompt, since in the basis of the idea of this prompt, the characters that confronted their inner demons generally always overcame them. It’s never really touched on what happens when a person lets their flaws defeat them. Good job!
