Norse Pony’s comments: This is an interesting take on the prompt. I like the characterization of Spike as being willing to step up and fight to save those who can’t, and who is able to put aside his own feelings in order to fight to save the mare he loves. This is a dense little story that worked pretty darn well, overall. Good work.
