She is Loyalty, but she’s always late.
She is brave, but she fears fate.
She cares, but she never shows.
Her words are clipped and cannot flow.
You wait there, in the rain.
Try to ignore the searing pain.
Forget that this is not the first,
And know that it is not the worst.
She is Laughter, but inside she cries.
She is life-full, but her heart it dies.
She fears, but she won’t say,
Surviving only day by day.
In the rain and in the dark,
It’s hard for you to find the spark,
That once you cherished oh so dear
Has now all but disappeared.
Your curls are wet, you heave a sigh.
It seems as if it’s time to fly.
But in the fading light, she’s there,
Drops of rain bright in her hair.
She smiles sad and pulls you near,
Her words for once are so sincere.
Another promise that she made,
Forgotten and left to fade.
But in her hold and in her kiss,
It is something you would always miss.
She’s always late, she never regrets,
But her love has never failed the test.
And through the storm and any weather,
you’ll find a way to be together.
Laughter, Loyalty, a love so broken,
Never are there apologies spoken.
You realize now there is no need,
For this is your true love’s creed.
Forget and fear and break and cry,
And together you will always fly.
Obscure Comments:
This was a neat one! Poetry is always cool, and breaking the stanzas up into little pairs of rhyming couplets like this is a stylistic choice that I like a lot. The story itself was neat too, and very well-done. Good job!
