“Oh hey Rarity! What can I do for you?” Twilight asked with a broad smile on her face.

“Twilight, darling! I need to broach a subject with you that I worry may be a tad embarrassing for you.” Rarity admitted, a serious look on her face. Twilight frowned.

“Uhh…OK Rarity. Go ahead.”

“Well…is it true? About…you and Rainbow Dash?” At Rarity’s question, Twilight blushed, before shaking her head clear.

“Wh…what do you mean? Me and Rainbow Dash? What about me and Rainbow Dash?”

“Well, darling, it’s just that I’ve noticed the two of you…well…you know…”

“No. What?”

“You’re both…together.”

“…”

“Oh come on Twilight. It’s not that hard to figure out!” Rarity said with a frown.

“What do you mean?”

“Well, firstly she’s been visiting your library far more often than normal lately.”

“Oh, that? That’s just because we have the new series of Daring Do graphic novels in! She couldn’t wait to read them.” Rarity frowned at Twilight’s explanation.

“Alright then. What about the favours?” Rarity asked.

“Favours?”

“You know. Bringing you lunch on long study days. Tidying up the library with you. Helping her train for the Running of the Leaves.”

“Oh, those! Well, since that whole Mare-Do-Well thing, Rainbow said she felt less like a loyal friend and more like an arrogant jerk. I disagreed of course, but she said she wanted to help out more often to prove her loyalty to her friends. So she’s been lending a hoof here and there. Nothing major.”

“Aaah, but darling, I also saw you that other day in Whitetail Woods.” Rarity said with a smirk. Twilight frowned, sweating a little.

“Uh…what…what do you mean?”

“You, and Rainbow Dash, laying on the ground in each other’s hooves, gazing lovingly into each other’s eyes…”

“Oh! That!” Twilight said with an exaggerated sigh of relief. “I had just collapsed after pushing myself too hard in training. Rainbow Dash just finished giving me CPR! Won’t be doing THAT again!”

“Hmmm…and might I ask then, with the library all tidy and lunch not for another hour, what Rainbow Dash is doing here right now?” Rarity asked, pointing to the tell-tale rainbow tail sticking out behind the sofa. Rainbow suddenly sat up from behind the sofa, a book in her hooves.

“Oh hey Rarity! I’m just reading the new Daring Do!” Rainbow Dash raised her book to show off the Daring Do title.

“So…neither of you…”

“No, Rarity.” Twilight said with a smile. “We are just friends. Strictly friends. Nothing more.”

“…very well then. In that case, I apologise for interrupting you, Twilight. Take care!” And with that, Rarity turned to leave.

“Oh that’s OK Rarity! Goodbye!” The door closed behind Rarity, and Twilight breathed a sigh of relief. She turned to Rainbow Dash, and grinned. “OK, she’s gone. Now where were we?” With a happy squee, Twilight dove over to her fillyfriend.

“So, are they…?” Applejack asked Rarity outside the library.

“Oh it’s plainly obvious they are, dear Applejack.”

“How so, sugarcube?”

“Well, firstly, Twilight’s explanations were incredibly weak. Secondly, I could tell that blush on her cheeks when I mentioned Rainbow Dash anywhere. Thirdly, Rainbow Dash was hidden behind the sofa when I went in. She claimed she was just reading a Daring Do book.”

“So how’d ya know she was lyin’?”

“The book was upside down.” Applejack burst out laughing at that.

“Say Rarity…uhh…when are we gonna tell our friends about…ya know…us?”

“All in good time, dear Applejack. When our friends are ready to admit they’re in love, so shall we.”

BSB Comments:

Heh. They’ll let the others know when they’re ready. The line about CPR was just so convoluted and funny, and I enjoyed the detail about the Daring Do book being upside down. I support Rarity the relationship detective, and I think this is a thing that should happen. Heh, and then ending with secret Rarijack is never a bad thing. Well done!
