There were plenty of clouds in the sky over Ponyville, enough to call in a weatherpony and have them clear the skies. Ponyville had a reputation of cloudless spring days, so Rainbow Dash was chosen to clear the skies. She had a reputation of quickly clearing the clouds, if not doing so without a typical weatherpony’s gentile touch.
Rainbow Dash sat atop the highest cloud she could find. Atop the thin cloud, she could see the many clouds that refused to disappear with the morning mists and clouds that formed outside of Ponyville that drifted with the windy nights.
Rainbow’s eyes flicked from one cloud to the other. There were enough clouds to practice most of her tricks. She nodded to herself as she thought of how she could deal with every cloud.
Rainbow Dash flapped her wings and stretched on the platform-like cloud. The edges were melting away, so she would only have enough time to stretch her wings. Her wings were all that she needed anyway; her legs would stretch as she dealt with the clouds.
The high cloud evaporated at a faster pace. Rainbow Dash stomped on it, causing the cloud to break into two pieces. She jumped and rammed through the cloud, making the cloud disappear. She charged at a cloud below her and closed her wings.
Poof. Water vapor sped past her wings.
The sounds of familiar chatter echoed through the blasts of wind in Rainbow Dash’s ear. Praise from her friends. Rainbow Dash couldn’t let their talking distract her; any out of place movement— a passing glance or a wave— would dampen her speed.
A satisfying burst of air sounded as Rainbow Dash slammed her forelegs at the cloud’s center. Rainbow lifted her arms and flapped her wings. She sped to a high-flying cloud blocking some of the Sun’s rays. Rainbow Dash leaned to her side and let her body spin in between her beating wings. She was careful to flap her wings when her belly faced the ground, otherwise the air would push her in another direction.
Rainbow Dash counted how many spins she made before she dispersed the cloud. Three. She circled her friends to see if her vision became blurry or if her stomach felt upset. Rainbow Dash felt nothing and charged towards another cloud.
Poof. Water vapor sped past her wings.
Another voice joined her friends on the ground. Rainbow Dash caught a glimpse of them but did not greet them. The ponies sounded impressed. Rainbow Dash forced her wings to beat faster.
She performed simple tricks as she checked her surroundings. Two clouds remained. They were close to one another, as if fusing to form a larger cloud. A strike with her forelegs wouldn’t disperse the huge cloud properly.
Rainbow Dash flew away from the cloud and gained altitude. A quick turn and then a rapid series of wing beats sent Rainbow Dash flashing through the sky. Blades of wind pierced her eyes, forcing one shut and the other wincing in pain. Glimmering sparks of lightning snapped and shimmered along with her tail’s unusually long afterimage.
As Rainbow Dash neared the cloud, She stopped her beating wings. She lifted her body as if to gain altitude, but her closed wings caused her to twirl like a windmill. She spun in the air twice and readied her legs to kick the huge cloud.
Poof. Water vapor sped past her wings.
The large cloud disappeared in a spray of mist.
Rainbow Dash beat her wings. They pushed her towards the ground and sent her body spiraling maladroitly. The ponies on the ground gasped. Rainbow Dash leaned on one side to regain control, but to no avail. Her body continued to twist hopelessly and plummet to the ground. Rainbow’s head stung from the blood rushing past her head.
The road grew larger and the soil between the grass blades was more visible. She could see the hair color of the three ponies watching her. The ponies sounded worried. Her world turned violently as her stomach sank to her legs. Her hooves felt cold. Her head felt faint and dizzy. Rainbow Dash closed her eyes and covered her head with her hooves.
Crack. Pain sped past her wings.

Nice work, Versulia. The repetition was very effective. A very nice explanation for why Dash broke her wings. That need to showboat gets her in a lot of trouble.
