The streets were dark and abandoned, so unfamiliar and foreboding in the dark of night. During the day, they were her territory, her queenly realm. She ruled and was known and loved by all during the day. But at night it was different. The streets she strutted on while the sun was shining turned small and empty, giving her the horrible, uneasy feeling of being completely alone. She tugged her scarf, hoof-made and as soft as a Pegasus feather or the gentle kiss of a lover, tighter around her neck and hurried her pace, ducking her head down to avoid looking at the dark directly.
The night was frigid, the winter air as fragile and biting as glass. Winter had only started a few days ago, but already it was as unforgiving and harsh as ever. She knew, of course, that when she arrived at her destination she would be instantly and completely warmed up. She came to the end of one of Ponyville’s alleyways and peered out into the main road, checking for anypony that could disrupt her secret trek before setting herself back into a trot across the road to her destination. Carousel Boutique was warmly lit, snow capping its every curve and frill, making it look more elegant and welcoming than ever. The light from the inside flickered gently like fire and already she could feel the warm embrace of her marefriend.
Eagerly, she rushed forward, tapping on the door quickly and quietly. Before she could even catch her breath, the door flew open and a flash of blue magic gripped the end of her scarf and dragged her inside. She let out an uncharacteristic squeal as she was pulled forward, only to be stopped by a passionate pair of lips crashing into her own. Her eyes widened in surprise before she let them slide shut with pleasure as she relaxed into Rarity’s familiar kiss. Finally, the unicorn loosened her magical hold on her scarf and pulled away, smirking mischievously at her in that beautiful, sexy way of hers as they went to rest on the couch.
“Hiya, Rarity!” Pinkie chirped, tugging off her scarf and tossing it to the side. “I really missed you today, you know! It was super-duper hard to see you with the others and not doing anything.”
Rarity nodded solemnly, her bright eyes dimming slightly, “Oh, darling, I know it. You’re very irresistible, I was so close to losing it at lunch today.”
Pinkie grinned and waggled an eyebrow, “All you had to do was call me away. We could’ve snuck off.”
“And leave the others to wonder? It would be too suspicious,” Rarity tossed a curl back and shook her head in decision. She snuggled up to Pinkie, burying her nose in Pinkie’s soft curls. “But we’re together now and that’s all that matters.”
“You said it!” Pinkie leaned against the red velvet of the couch and sighed in content at its familiarity. These nights were always so perfect. Now all that was left was to talk and kiss and laugh and kiss some more.
And they did. The night dragged on, but all they cared about was each other’s words and the taste of each other’s lips meeting their own. They gossiped about this and that, planned a party for Dash’s birthday, exchanged sweet nothings just for the hell of it, laughed about how smart and sneaky they were, and talked about each other late into the night.
“…when I really started to fall in love with you was when we were going to kick that dragon out. We spent all day together and you laughed at all my jokes and I started to realize that maybe you didn’t think I was so annoying after all,” Pinkie dropped her gaze from Rarity’s and her blush tinted her round cheeks a darker pink.
“Oh, my love, I never once thought you were annoying,” Rarity assured her, tenderly brushing a curl away from Pinkie’s face. “A bit trying, perhaps, but you were always such a good friend to me. You can make me laugh like no one else can.”
“I do my be—!”Pinkie was cut off as Rarity suddenly swooned and fell into her waiting forelegs. She looked down at her curiously and worriedly, an eyebrow raised.
“Sorry, darling,” Rarity blushed, shifting her weight in Pinkie’s hold to a more comfortable position. “Have you ever been so tired that you just fall over from exhaustion? I’ve had a very long day and I was up until dawn last night finishing some dresses for a client.”
“Well then why are we awake? We could’ve gone to bed ages ago if you were this tired, silly!” Pinkie chirped, moving to head off to bed but Rarity threw her forelegs around her neck and pulled her down with her onto the seat of the couch.
“Let’s just stay here,” she said decidedly, their noses almost touching as she spoke.
Moving again to wrap her forelegs around Rarity, her body almost fit perfectly against Rarity’s as they tightened their holds on one another and drifted off into a much-needed sleep together.

Bookman’s Comments
What a sweet story, RPN! Rarity and Pinkie were both so loving to each other. It’s a perfect, romantic look at an ordinary day for Raripie. I think my favorite part was the nod to Dragonshy. They had a great dynamic that ep, and it’s a very nice way for Pinkie’s infatuation to start.
I made a promise I would never jump ship, my crew is holding me back and begging me not to jump. But Raripie…it is so...
Sigh.. Everyone’s jumping ship these days. Soon we’ll be hearing stories about the ghost ship RainbowPie, which somehow...
“Could be” … or “is already”? Hmm? This is for you: Because it’s totes your OTP.
