A Rainy Day in Canterlot
by runforever101 on FIMfiction.net
The rain pitter-pattered on the roof of Joe’s Dougnut Shop. In a table that had a perfect view of the dreary city, was the princess. Princess Celestia never went to uncouth little shops, but the Dougnut shop was the perfects place for someone to clear their mind. She seemed to be the only one in the shop, other than Joe who was cleaning the counter.
“What’s on your mind, Princess?”
His voice was husky and gruff, yet soothing to Celestia’s ears.
“Nothing really. I come here to clear my mind…. Have you noticed how the rain looks over the castle?”
Joe stepped over and observed the horizon. To some, it would look dreary and depressing, but Celestia thought it looked like the rain water the glowing fields under the castle that beared abundant fruits and crops. Celestia knew that the rain would just bring more beauty to Equestria. “I’m afraid not. To me it just looks like well… Rain over the castle.”
She explained her love of the rain and the crops then continued to sip her drink. “Joe, I have been coming here for sometime… Please call me Celestia.”
“Of course P- I mean Celestia.” he stammered. It was an honor to call royalty by their first names.
“When I was a young princess, so long ago, I loved many people.”
The shopkeeper nodded in acknoledgement. “May I sit?”
Celestia gave a warm laugh. “Of course you may, Joe.”
“As I was saying, I loved many people, but the price of being an alicorn comes with immortality. And I watched each pony live and die. Joe, remember how I told you how I have been coming here for awhile?”
Joe nodded. He remembered the times that they would lightly chat over the days specials or politics in Canterlot. He never admitted it, but he admired her power and beauty from afar.
“Joe… I have been coming here for awhile now. I have realized that you are beautiful in so many ways. You are kind, generous, and… I love you.”
He was speechless. Who could love the owner of a small doughnut shop? Joel’s thoughts were interrupted as Celestia’s muzzle touched his own. The kiss was nothing passionate; It was beautiful, calm, and sweet. He savored the feel of warmth on his lips before they broke away. “Joe…” but nothing more was said. They ran out of the castle and into the fields on the outskirts of Canterlot. The two ran until they couldn’t run any more. Soon the rain stopped and they laid on the moist grass that brushed up against their fur.
A few months later, the crops grew into big, beautiful, abundant crops.

Hah! This was quite the amusing parody of soap opera cliches. You’ve got Celestia pretending as if something she said ten seconds ago was somehow forgettable “Remember that thing I said just now, Joe?” and Joe acting as goofy as possible around the Princess. Then the sudden declaration of love, Joe’s silly initial protests, and then the running out into the fields…I find the ending most amusing of all because it’s basically saying “ponysex causes crops to grow!” which is all kinds of funny. Fantastic job with the comedy here. I believe this is your first submission too, so welcome to TMP! I look forward to seeing more stories from you in the future.
