The Prompt: This is not The Greatest Fanfic in the World, no, this is just a tribute.
And the peculiar thing is this, my friends—the stories we wrote last night didn’t actually read anything like the greatest fanfic in the world.
“To Share an Apple” by Shutaro
“Tenacious Dash” by Esle Ynopemos
“This Is Not a Ship Fic (No, This Is a Tribute)” by Donny’s Boy

Well, me and Dash, we looked at each other, and we each said… “Okay.”
And we wrote the first thing that came to our heads,
Just so happened to be,
The Best Fanfic in the World, it was The Best Fanfic in the World.
Look into my eyes and it’s easy to see
One and one make two, shipping’s that easy,
It was destiny.
Once every hundred-thousand years or so,
When Celestia shines and Luna glows
And the love doth grow…
Needless to say, Discord was stunned,
Whip-crack went his serpent tail,
And the beast was done.
He asked us, “Be you alicorns?”
And we said, “Nay. We are but ponies.”
Rock!
Ahhh, ahhh, ahhh-ah-ah,
Ohhh, whoah, ah-whoah-oh!

The day has finally arrived! No more gettin’ treated like a little filly, ‘cause I’m a big pony fer real now! I’ll be able to stay out as long as I want, go wherever I please, an’ Applejack even said she’d pour me a mug of the hard cider! I finally get to try it!
Dunno why Applejack an’ Big Macintosh shared a chuckle when she said that, though. Am I missin’ somethin’?

The Prompt: The Thousand-Year Door.
Have some stories! Stories about doors!
“The Griffin’s Gate” by Deflare
“Door of the Moon” by Commissar-Rarity
“1000 Years Loyal” by Esle Ynopemos

No, no, no, no, no! I was almost certain this had to be the door the prophecies warned about! A door controlled by dark magic, placed by an evil king, which opens into a multitude of nightmares? But no! It’s sealed tight!
And now the time has come. Somewhere in Equestria, a door of legend is opening for the first time in a millennium, and though my books tell me when, they don’t say what lies behind…

“The law was put in place out of necessity?” Twilight Sparkle repeated, a skeptical look on her face as she walked alongside her host through the snow-covered street.
Winter Star nodded, the movement easily visible in the light jacket she wore, a stark contrast with the bulky parka Twilight was wearing to protect from the cold. “Yes, we realized that we are… stubborn,” she replied, her enunciation of the Equestrian vocabulary very clear though accented. “Given the choice between clothing and freezing to death, an absurd number of ponies will choose the latter. We think it might have something to do with the time of the Wendigo, but we can’t be certain.”
Twilight shook her head in disbelief. “That’s crazy! I would bundle up for the cold, and so would anypony I know.”
“Ahem!” The two ponies glanced over at the third member of their group, who has just levitated her pink scarf off of her muzzle so she could speak. “Really, Twilight, must I remind you? A certain trip to a long-lost empire, where I was the only one who thought to wear anything at all against the bitter cold?” Rarity placed a well-wrapped foreleg against her head. “And to think! I had scarves fitting for all of you, if you had just but asked!”
“Well… that was… it was only a short trip to the Crystal Empire! We were fine, right?” Twilight couldn’t even convince herself with that question, and she began to wonder just how rational she was.
The Prompt: Write a story in the second person in which the perspective character (i.e. “you”) is one of the Mane Six or Spike.

(You totally planned everything from the start.)
The Prompt: Write a story in the second person in which the perspective character (i.e. “you”) is one of the Mane Six or Spike.
In case you don’t have a firm grasp on what exactly the second person perspective is, here’s Wikipedia’s article about it, TV Tropes’ article about it (handily written in the second person itself), and here’s an article that both illustrates why it is a good exercise to write in the second person and offers a few tips on doing so.

No, no, no… my full name.

That’s right, folks, it’s April Fools’ Day, or April Foals’ Day, as many in the fandom like to call it! And what better way to celebrate the day of jokes and trickery than with a whole week of prank-related prompting?
But what is the most important thing to remember when setting up a prank? Making sure nopony suspects you. You have to play innocent, feign ignorance, and even pretend to be tricked yourself, all so nopony pins you as the prankster.
The Prompt: Playing the fool.
